Workshop manufacturing
Custom-made cabinetmaking requires many stages in the workshop. In order to guarantee you unique, clean and flawless pieces when they leave our workshop. We bring all our know-how, at each stage of manufacture, to guarantee you a quality part. Through this page we will share with you, in broad outline, the rules of our profession. In order to allow you to better understand our know-how.
Technical drawing
First of all, beginning of the work of details, each project begins with a millimeter plan! Clever mix of mathematical formulas and precise plots. This drawing reduced to a certain scale will allow you to highlight all the parts of your creation. And this in order to define a debit sheet which will identify all the different parts in the form of a list.
Wood preparation
The wood comes to us from local sawmills cut into planks called « logs ». A rough board in its natural state is never regular, straight and even less devoid of imperfections characteristic of wood.
The flow
First step of manual production in the workshop. It is then a giant puzzle that we must now establish on the rough sawmill wood planks by minimizing losses while looking for the most beautiful grain of the wood.
The raw board is then cut, cut and trimmed.
Currying
The curdling is done in two stages: the planing then the planing. The goal of this operation is to obtain perfectly flat and parallel boards.
- Planing: this manufacturing step is used to draw up a dish and a song.
- Planing: it flattens and calibrates to the desired dimension in parallel with the planed faces.
Assembly
In our workshop the assembly is carried out mainly in the traditional way. That is to say tenon, mortise, wooden dowel, dovetail. Requiring only the strict minimum of white glue (water-based).
In addition to the noble raw material used, these assemblies take time and require millimeter precision. Which give the value and durability of the achievement.
There are many other types of assemblies, manufacturing points ( establishment of parts, layout, machining, fitting, blank assembly (without glue)) and processes before finishing ! That we invite you to come and discover directly from us in our store .
Sanding
At this stage a first sanding is mainly used to remove the tracing lines as well as the signs of establishment. Subsequently other sanding steps will be used, among other things, to bring out the details of the wood and to make its finish softer to the touch.
After making a small lexicon of decoration in the workshop
Scarving: Technology helps us every day with electric machines. But there is one point on which we are still working as there were centuries ago and that is sculpture. For that pencil, gouges, mass and a lot of time and patience!
Marquetry: this is the discipline that saw the birth and recognition of cabinetmaking (according to history). A work of patience and meticulousness which consists in placing thin sheets of wood, mother-of-pearl… Sizes to form a drawing before affixing it to a piece of furniture.
Mopenings: These are the details around cupboards, doors or furniture. They form a sort of frame around the piece of wood. Flat, curved or ornamental, there is an infinite quantity and for all styles.
